Ginger Doll
This is one of my dogs back home in Arkansas. She's an old lady now and I gave her back her teeth in this picture. ^^ Poor girl lost almost all her front from her age (at least 16? maybe 15?) and from chewing on tough things.
Ginger is most likely a pitbull mixed chow judging from her short fur colors and her black and purple tongue.
Ginger was dumped when she was younger. My family found her down at the boat ramp of our lake with a friend of hers, Mike a border collie.
We believed that her previous owner abused her and raised her for fighting on a account of her breed mixture. This poor girl was starved, had severe mange all around her, and was so terribly shy that one wouldn't believe that she's a true chow or pitbull mix. Heck, because of her breed mix my mother reminded us the first few days we had her 'Don't put your face up to hers. She'll snap it off.' But Ginger is a girl who was so shy that once you start to approach her and reach out to pet her, she'll curl up with her tail tucked in and wet herself. She even gives you the tiniest kiss with the tip of her tongue unlike how any other dog would kiss with it whole tongue. But over time, she learned that she was loved by us all and became a real part of the family. She's still a little timid, and of course she is still scared to death when someone picks her up. When trying to attempt, she screams her poor head off. Our guess is her previous owner picked her up a lot and threw her in a pit where two males would fight over her, or whatever goes on in those god-awful dog fight arenas.
So, after a few months of feeding her good food, Ginger regained meat on her bones, and thanks to the rice we put in her food, she has perhaps the most beautiful and softest fur from nose to tail with a mix of many colors.
This picture here was all done in oil pastels. It has been ages since the last time I used oil pastels. I must've been 10 or 12. So, I tried this media out to see if I still got it. I'll have to say, I do still have it. I enjoyed making this.

I remember Ginger! Looks just like her too. My mom's still got that pic that you did of Gus and Boo hanging up.
