Jiminy managed to catch up to Donald and land on top of his hat right as the angry duck kicked the saloon door open.  He stepped inside, but the swinging doors hit him in the back of the head causing him to plop to his stomach.

An uproar of laughter came from within the tavern as the rest of the gang entered.  They saw the source of the laugh was coming from a tall fox wearing clothing that were once civilized with a top hat and cape but were quite ragged and patchy.  Sitting next to him was a cat that was wearing clothes that would look better on an old scarecrow.

The fox slapped the cat in the back, "Oh, Giddy, there's nothing like a good laugh.  And there's nothing better to make one laugh than a clumsy oaf."

"That's them!" Jiminy pointed.

Marina looked upon the fox and asked, "Jonathan Worthington Foulfellow?"

"Oh," the fox stood up when he spotted Marina.  "You may just call me, Honest John, like everyone else."  When he saw that the cat, Gideon, wasn't standing, he bopped him on the head, "Giddy!  Where are your manners!?  Don't you know it's impolite when you don't stand up in the presence of a lady?"

Gideon stood up even though his snout was now stuck in his mug of beer because of Foulfellow hitting him.

Jiminy quickly whispered, "Genie, go out and find the authorities!  The rest of you do what you can to get some information out of them!  We've gotta find out what they know and I have a feeling that they have something to do with the missing boys!"

"Yes sir!" Genie saluted before he zipped back outside.

Donald got back up and straightened his tie, "A clumsy oaf, am I?  I'll show that dog-gone. . ."  He lowered his hat over his brow and rolled up his sleeves before stomping his way to Foulfellow and Gideon's table.

"Oh, tut, tut, tut," Foulfellow smiled and bowed.  "No hard feelings, my friends.  Have a drink on me."

"With pleasure!" Donald grabbed the mug of beer off Gideon's snout and splashed the rest of the drink into Foulfellow's face.

Gideon chuckled at Donald's sudden gag as Foulfellow shook the beer off his face and his hat off his head.  After he wiped off what he could with his hand, he looked at Donald with one eye.

"Oh, a wise guy!" he growled.  "Are you looking for trouble?  Well, you've got it!  Giddy!"

Gideon nodded, took a wooden mallet out of his coat, and held it up preparing to bash Donald on the head.  Donald raised his own mallet and made the first swing at Gideon like a baseball bat, but the cat dodged the move and hammered his mallet right on Donald's webbed foot.  After Donald gave out a loud scream and started hopping around on one foot with the other in his hands, Foulfellow laughed loudly until he felt a sudden yank from behind.

Marina had a hold of his tail and had the blade of her sword next to his coccyx, "Okay, Honest John. . . one false move and your tail is mine!"

Foulfellow gasped and held up his hands in surrender, "Giddy!  Drop it!"

Gideon did so and held his hand up, but briefly because the mallet fell right on his own tail.  Now both he and Donald were jumping around in pain.

"Alright, amigos!" Panchito pulled out his pistols and cocked back their hammers.  "I don't want to use these against you.  So you better tell us what we want to know."

"Stromboli, the puppet master, left the village tonight.  Where did he go?!" José demanded an answer.

"Stromboli?" beads of sweat ran down Foulfellow's furry face.  "Stromboli?  I think you're mistaking, my friends.  I don't know anyone by that name."

"Gawrsh," Goofy scratched his head.  "We're sorry, Mr. Honest John.  I guess we've made a mistake."

"He's lying!" Jiminy frowned.

Foulfellow asked, "Giddy, do you know anyone by that name?"

Gideon had stopped hopping around at the time.  In response, he smiled and nodded.

"GIDDY!!" Foulfellow chided him.

"Ah HA!!!" Donald took Gideon's mallet and held it with his own in a threatening way.

Marina tugged on Foulfellow's tail, "Let me see.  Perhaps I can make a good hat out of this."

He shrieked, "He's heading north!  That's all I know!"

"And Pinocchio?  Did he go with him?" asked José.

"Pinocchi-who?"

"Hmm. . ." Marina smirked.  "This is the softest tail I've ever felt.  Maybe it'd make a good stole."

Foulfellow gasped, "No!  Pinocchio escaped Stromboli less than a few hours ago!"

"He did?" asked Donald.

"Oh," Goofy smiled.  "Then maybe he went home."

Gideon kept smiling as he shook his head in denial.

"Giddy!" Foulfellow scolded the cat.

"Why is he shaking his head?" Donald raised the two mallets.

"Nothing!"

"Maybe it'd make a good muff instead," Marina spoke in a sinister tone.

"We brought Pinocchio along with the other boys to the docks," Foulfellow spilled the beans.  "The Coachman told us to do it!  He forced us to do it!"

"And paid you handsomely, I see," José lifted up Foulfellow's cape revealing a large sack of money.

"So, you are responsible for the disappearing boys," Panchito glared at him.

"I knew it!" Jiminy snapped his fingers.  "I hope Genie hurries with the authorities!"

"This Coachman," Donald frowned.  "Who is he and what does he have to do with this!?"

"Just a regular Coachman.  That's all," Foulfellow forged a smile until Marina tugged on his tail again.  He tried not to panic, "Okay!  Okay!  He took all the boys who love to play hooky from school to the docks!  They're on a boat heading for an island just west of here!  That's all!  I swear to you!"

"And that's enough for us to know!" a voice came up from the doors.  It was the authorities.

Genie pointed at the two con artists and spoke in a brave tone, "Officers!  Arrest those men!"  Then he crossed his arms with pride, "I've always wanted to say that and I liked it!"

The gang put away their weapons right away as the Chief approached the two con artists.  "Jonathan Worthington Foulfellow and Gideon.  We've been suspecting you two for a lot of things.  Now we've finally caught you with the goods."

"Do your work, Capo," Genie smiled.

"Grazie, Signore Blu," the Chief nodded.  "It's a good timing for some mercenaries to come to our village."

"No need for thanks," Genie held his head up high.  "Now leave it to us to get these missing children back home."

"You mean you're going to Pleasure Island?" one of the authorities asked with wide eyes.  "That place is forbidden.  They say many have gone there but have never returned."

"No worries, Signore Polizia," Genie held up a hand.  "We'll be back before you know it.  It's our jobs as mercenaries.  Tell the parents of this little village to leave a light at the windows.  Their boys are coming home!"

After watching Foulfellow and Gideon get locked up in the horse drawn paddy wagon, and waving good-bye to them teasingly, the gang hurried over to the docks.  Once they were there, the Harbor Master came up to them from his cabin.

"Cosa é questo?  Leaving already?"

"Ah!  Capitaneria di Porto!" Genie smiled.  "Could you tell us which way it is to Pleasure Island?"

"Pleasure Island?!" the Harbor Master took a step back and did the Holy Trinity.  "O caro Dio!  You can't go there!  It's forbidden!  No one sets foot there and returns."

"Oh, we will return," said Donald.  "We're not afraid of any superstitious island.  We have to go there and bring back all of the boys who were taken there."

"If you say so, Signore," the Harbor Master nodded once.  "But don't say you were not warned."

"So, where is the island?" asked Goofy.

"Just a few miles west of here," he answered while pointing in the right direction.  As he stepped away, he mumbled, "Iddio ti protegga."

Once the Harbor Master went back to his cabin, Genie made a speed boat appear in the water and jumped in the attire of a yacht captain.

"All aboard!  Next stop, Pleasure Island!"

It was not long when the gang found the island.  From what they saw in the boat, the island was an extinct volcano and there was a crater in the center.  That they could tell when they noticed bright lights coming from the center over the edges of the mountain.

"There must be a town or something in the middle," said Goofy.

"If there is, then it should at least be on a map," said Jiminy.  "I've never heard of this place before."

Donald was fiddling with the radar and ended up shaking it a few times.  "Well, it's official, this island is not on the map at all."

"What do you mean?" Marina looked over Donald's shoulder.  On the radar was a blinking dot indicating the gang's location.  The region of Tuscany was on the map along with a few smaller islands many miles away from their spot, but there was no island on the map that the blinking dot was heading toward.

"That's weird," Marina cocked a brow.  "Maybe the village wasn't kidding about it being forbidden.  Maybe it's a haunted island of sorts--a ghost island maybe."

"Ghost island?" Goofy gulped.

Genie scratched his head under his cap, "Nah, it's really there alright.  But I don't know about this, guys.  I'm getting a weird vibe from that place.  Other than that, my pointy ears are hearing the sound of circus music and children screaming with joy."

"The children are there alright," José nodded.

"So, how do we get in there?  Do we fly over the mountain edge?" asked Dale.

"We won't have to," Chip pointed.  "Look there."

Everyone saw another light coming from within a cavern on the side of the island.

"An entrance.  Perfect," Chip smiled.  "Let's go, Genie!"

"You've got it, Chipper!"

Genie led the boat over toward the cave.  When they were at a good distance, he cut the engines and had the boat inch its way closer by the tide.  Once they were entering the mouth of the cave, Genie quickly changed the speed boat into a canoe.  The boys and Marina started paddling their way gently through until they heard the sound of a gravelly voice with a cockney accent.

"Alright you blokes!  Get those crates ready!"

"What did you say, Genie?" asked Goofy.

"I didn't say anything," Genie shrugged.  "I thought it was you."

"Wasn't me," Goofy shook his head.

"It wasn't any of us," said Panchito.  "Someone's yelling from the island.  That was the echo."

"Shh!" Jiminy hopped to the tip of the bow to look ahead.  "Stop the boat!"

Everyone dragged their oars into the water.  Once the canoe had stopped near the edge of the darkness in the cave, the gang had a view within the island, but it wasn't what they expected at first.  There was a huge room in the cave where a large steamboat was docked next to a spit of land that was full of crates and wooden cages.

"You there!!"

The gang gasped and got down hoping to hide themselves from the same arrogant voice.

"Get that corral open!  And you!  Keep a look out!  It'll be any minute now when we get our next stock!"

The boys and Marina look back up now that they knew they weren't spotted after all.

Jiminy whispered, "C'mon, fellas.  We can hide behind those crates."

One by one, the gang climbed up the dock and stayed hunkered down behind the wooden boxes.  Genie made the canoe disappear as he came to their side.

"What now?" he asked.

Jiminy hopped up to the top of the crates to see what was going on.  Chip and Dale climbed up to his side and stayed on all four paws.

"Well?" asked Donald.

"Great corn nuts!" Dale gasped.

Chip slapped his hand over his mouth, "Keep it down, ya numbskull!"

Genie turned himself into a little housefly and fluttered up to their side.

"Well, what's going on?" Donald frowned.

"There are Nightmares all around the place!" Genie answered with his squeaky fly voice.

"Nightmares?!" Panchito got out his pistols.

"Shh!  Stay down!" Jiminy whispered.  "They outnumber all of you and they're huge.  I think they're Class Two Nightmares."

Donald peeked over the crate.  Jiminy was right.  There were dozens of dark figures the size and near shape of gorillas.  They all had no faces except for their narrow glowing eyes.  All of them were lifting crates from the steamboat to the docks as though they were made of cardboard.

"Whoa," Marina whispered after she peeked with him.  She came back down, "What now?"

Genie answered as Rambo, "Well, surrounding them's out."  He lifted up a pair of machine guns, "We'll just take them down one by one."

"That'll be too difficult, Genie," said Jiminy.  "Sure, it'll be easy for you, but for everyone else, it can be quite risky.  Class Two Nightmares are a lot stronger than the smaller ones we've been coming across so far.  I suggest that we get all of the boys from the village out of here before anyone notices it.  We can try and slip out from under their noses."

"Okay, then," Genie changed back to himself.  "You're the conscience of the gang and we'll follow you."

Ahead of them were some tall heavy doors that were barricaded by a huge wooden bar.  Over the door were bold words reading 'Welcome to Pleasure Island'.

"The children screams are coming from behind those doors," said José.  "How do we get there without being spotted?"

Genie snickered, "You guys are lucky some of us come prepared."  He held out his hand to reveal Von Drake's invisibility shield.

"Ah, perfecto!" Panchito smiled.

"But how do we get through the doors?" asked Marina.

"Hey," Genie winked.  "You're forgetting that this is me you're talking to.  I have my ways."

"Good," Donald nodded.  "Then let's just--"

"HAAAAAAW-HEEEEEE!!"

Everyone was startled when a donkey's head popped out from inside a nearby crate.  It was a young donkey with tears in his big brown eyes as he just kept on braying.

"SHHHH!!!"  Donald told the donkey off.  "Quiet!"

But the donkey kept crying and braying.

Donald was about to yell at the donkey, but before he opened his bill, Panchito held it shut less than a second before the gang heard the crack of a whip.

It was the Coachman.  He stomped his way up to the crate containing the donkey.  The poor creature was still crying as though he was trying to tell the gang something or warn them, but they couldn't understand him.  Not even the animal translators in the ears of Marina and the boys were effective with such a sad whinny.

The big brutal looking Coachman cracked his whip one more time at the donkey, "I told you to be quiet, you stubborn--"  He stopped at mid-sentence when he heard something out of the ordinary behind the crates.  Suspecting that there was someone hiding behind them, he immediately looked over the boxes expecting to surprise whoever was there, but all he saw was. . . nothing.

Underneath the invisibility shield, everyone remained completely still and quiet.  Both Panchito and José held Donald's bill shut to make sure not a squeak would come from him.  Genie was holding the chipmunks and Jiminy in his hands while Goofy and Marina had their hands over their mouth and held their breath.  The Coachman seemed to be looking directly at all of them with his green eyes that gleamed of with sinister evil, but thanks to the shield, he was still seeing nothing.

"Hmph," he grunted.  "Mice."

He turned and walked away from the crates.  As he was cracking his whip and yelling at the Nightmares to continue their work, the gang got up and quietly made their way to the doors.  Step by step, they kept their guard up in case any of the Nightmares heard a footstep.  They were lucky enough to get to the barricade.

"Now what?" asked Chip.

"Here goes nothing," Genie answered.  "Okay, lady and gents, put your backs against the wall and close your eyes."

They did so.

"Hey, I didn't say you can keep them closed," Genie nudged them.

Everyone opened their eyes and found themselves no longer in the cavern full of Nightmares or under the invisibility shield but on the other side of the door.  The sound of circus music and children screams of joy were a lot louder and the whole gang saw why.

For perhaps a mile or less around them was the inside of the extinct volcano.  The whole bit of land was surrounded by walls of tall rock.  Within these walls was the last thing anyone would think to put within such a place.  It was an amusement park.

"WOOOOOOWWW!!!" Genie's heart lifted so much that he hovered off the ground a few inches.  "Look at this place!  I've always wanted to visit an place like this!  Isn't it beautiful?!"

"Uh. . ." Donald tried to speak, but nothing came out.  The others couldn't blame him for that.

True that it was an amusement park that was crowded with over a hundred boys, but the place itself was far out of the ordinary.  It had a ferris wheel and a roller coaster that towered the whole area where one can see all of its young riders standing in their seats with the risk of taking a long drop.  There was a large tent that had a statue of a tough thug with a mechanical head at the opening welcoming the newcomers as this tent was a rough house where the boys could pick a fight with anyone they want.  There was a building shaped as a black eight billiard ball was open for all to gamble.  There was a luxurious model house where the boys were all allowed to run around and tear the whole place apart.  While one tent was handing out the boys all the junk food they could eat, more boys were gathering around one where they could get a big mug of beer.  One area had a game where the boys could shoot down the clay ducks and pipes, but with real guns and live ammunition!  Then there was a long road where dozens of mechanical cigar store Indian statues were handing out an endless supply of real cigars!

"What is this?!" Marina was stunned.

"A parent's worst dream," Jiminy answered.

"I don't see what's so bad," Genie rung his hands together.  "Let's go on one of those rides."

"Gene!" Marina elbowed him.  "Are you blind?  Do you not see what's going on around here?"

"These kids!" Donald frowned.  "They're. . . they're going crazy!  They're smoking cigars!  They're gambling, drinking beer, and using real guns!  This is insane!"

"Oh yeah," Genie stopped.  "Guess I didn't think of that.  So. . . what do we do?"

Goofy lowered his brow and had his fists on his hips, "We've got to stop this!  This is no way for boys to act!  Why, if I was their father, I'd put them on my knee and give them a spanking."

Genie spoke behind his hand, "If you were their father, I'd have to ask what other hobbies you got."

"Genie!  Focus!" Jiminy grunted.  "This has got to stop!  This is no way for children to behave!  Boys, I suggest we get down there and tell them o--"

"Look!" Chip pointed.

Everyone looked and gasped from the new thing they were seeing.  Among a group of boys, one child stood out the most for he was a stringless marionette of wood!

"PINOCCHIO!!!" Jiminy yelled.

But the puppet didn't hear him through all the music, screaming, and crashing.  He was following another boy of twelve years of age with buck teeth toward the tobacco road.

"Quick!  After him!" Jiminy hopped ahead of the boys.

They all followed him down the stairs as he kept yelling Pinocchio's name.

"Jiminy!  Wait a second!"  Marina called.  "Be careful!  You'll get trampled!"

But the cricket didn't listen, "Pinocchio!  Pinocchio!!"

Genie called out with him, "Paging Pinocchio!  Pinocchio!!"

The moment the gang set foot on the park grounds, the large amount of boys stopped and stared at the group.  With the crowd being like a wall that only Jiminy managed to get through, the gang stood there like a deer in headlights.

One boy pointed at them, "Hey, guys!  Check out the clowns!  Let's torture them!"

Another one had a shotgun and said, "Hey, they brought us a bunch of real birds to shoot!  Perfect!"

"Look out guys!" another boy pointed at Marina!  "A grown up!  She's here to tattle on us!"

"She's gonna tell our parents on us and we won't have anymore fun!"

"Let's get her!"

One group of boys was creeping their way up to Genie and Goofy ready to tear them to pieces, another group was taking their guns toward Donald, José, and Panchito, and all of the others were stepping toward Marina.  The gang screamed and scattered like roaches, but the group of hoodlum children chased them down.

Goofy and Genie stayed together as much as they could and tried not to look back.  Especially since the boys chasing them had baseball bats and some pies ready to be thrown.  Donald, José, and Panchito were jumping all over the place as they were avoiding getting shot down.  This of course was giving the children more fun as they saw them as moving targets.

Marina ran for it with Chip and Dale staying with her.  She covered her head during her run as all the children around her were throwing food and bottles at her.  She stopped after finding herself surrounded.  Chip and Dale quickly climbed up to her shoulder and pointed her in a direction to run.  She took it and ran as fast as her long legs could take her.  She went around one corner and found a shadowy corner to hide.

Once the three of them heard the bunch of boys running by the hiding place, Marina fell down to her rump and tried catching her breath.

Chip peeked around the corner finding the coast clear, "My gosh!  This place is worst place I've ever been!"

Dale was picking a sticky piece of candy out of Marina's hair, "Are you okay?"

She answered with a shiver, "There are things in life I fear:  the pitch darkness, certain types of bugs, and being alone.  Never in all my years did I think I would be scared of children who are completely out of control."

"Same here," Chip twiddled his fingers.  "These kids are making complete jackasses of themselves!  This is why discipline was invented."

Marina curled up in her little corner, "I hope the others will be okay.  Maybe Genie and José can duplicate themselves and get these kids under control."

"Either way, until they do," Dale held on to her shoulder, "I'm not going back out there."

"Me neither," Marina shook her head.

"But, guys, we have to do something!" said Chip.

"What?  What can we do?" Dale shrugged.

Chip tried to say something, but nothing came to mind.  He sat down next to Marina, "I don't know.  This is too big for us on our own."
We never see if Foulfellow an Gideon get their comeuppance.

In the original script of 'Pinocchio' the two of them are seen being taken away to jail. And in the original story by Collodi, they get punished. Foulfellow (or The Fox as he is named in the book) loses his tail and Gideon (or The Cat) goes blind as a punishment.

So, I came up with the idea with Marina threatening Foulfellow to cut off his tail to get some information out of him. And of course with Gideon being such a dummy, he spills the beans. With such a confession, the two are taken away to jail. (BTW, I don't know what the authorities are called back in those days of Italy, so I hope I don't seem a little ignorant about it in this chapter. Unless someone out there who knows more about Italy law than I do and can tell me ^_^)

Now the gang has made it to Pleasure Island and have just been ambushed by the most difficult thing to stop: out of control boys.
I do love children. But they need discipline or else they become such uncontrollable little monsters, or, in this case, jackasses.
For that matter, Marina has developed a bit of a new fear: stupid little boys. ^^

If there are any spelling or grammar errors, please tell me.

Yep, kids are crazy and scary when they are out of control. Especially when they have a sugar rush.
